Survived a 10k
Wow...I did it. I survived a 10k and actually enjoyed it. I met up with my friends Kimberly, Van, and Rachel at my place at 6:30am to walk over to Lenox to join up with the other 49,000+ for the Peachtree Roadrace. At the start I found a gal I know and her family were running in my time group. Her son was one of the crazy ones that would actually take the donuts from the people on the side of the race by Publix!
This race was more of a party than anything... people cheering and dancing and clapping and singing on the side of the road, guys running dressed as the run-away-bride (complete with wide-eyed glasses), male cheerleaders on top of the fur-bus, conga-lines in the middle of the race. I ran along side two guys in nothing but hula skirts in mile 5 and 6 and by a guy in full army garb with backpack and flag near the finish. There's even a gentleman that runs in his business suit, tie, shoes, with a briefcase. LOL.
Well, I was happy to finish in decent time and without any major injuries. I've got a mean cut on my heel from my wet socks - but nothing a star-spangled band-aid can't fix!
Happy 4th of July!!!
