Grease and a brush with death...

It took me over an hour to stop shaking.

Last night, on the way home from the Screen on the Green, it was about 12:30am and I was driving down Lenox right by the 400 exit when a car swerved into the middle of the road and came right at me, full speed. I saw in an instant the crash before it happened and me flying through the windows and my car compacted into a ball. I hit the breaks hard. It was like one of those racing-movies where the car screeches and turns around completely. The tan sedan coming at me didn't start to slow until the last instant. I came to a screeching hault - completely sideways aross two lanes - about 2 feet from the car - before it drove away. They drove away!!! THey almost killed me (or at least my car) then just drove away! Thank God for reflexes and for Lenox not being busy with oncoming traffic that night and for me living just 3 seconds away.

I managed to get home but I was shaking uncontrollably for over an hour - I was lucky that my dad was up still and he helped calm me down over the phone. Wow. I'm a little sore today but I'm okay and my car seems to be too. I'm still in disbelief.

On a lighter note, the evening up until that point had been wonderful. We ventured out to Piedmont Park for the last "Screen on the Green" this summer. Thousands showed up with picnics, blankets, sparklers, and even poodle skirts - to watch Grease at sunset.

Wow - what a crowd! To hear thousands of people singing along and dancing with sparklers, be-bopping with their kids, dogs, and friends. The heat lightening was in full-force during "Grease Lightening" - it was eerie and awesome. The crowd cheered, laughed, "tell me more"-ed, "u hu"-ed, and "well-well-well"-ed in unison. Oh what a night!
